Tips on How to Rock Your Personal Runway with Awesome Accessories

Posted on

Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is architecture: It is a matter of proportion.” Every day is a fashion show and the world is your runway. With this in mind, the right details can make or break an outfit. Especially when it comes down to accessories. Here are some stylish ways to rock the runway.

Jewelry: It is one of the greatest accessories. Go for statement pieces as tiny jewelry pieces can get lost. Opt for cuff bracelets or stacked bangles. Large pendant necklaces and long, bold necklaces in general will draw the eye up and down. You don’t need to wear all of them at once. Depending on the shape of your body, some pieces will work better than others. If you’re full-busted, for example, you may want to avoid a bold statement necklace that hits the top of your shirt and can draw more attention to areas you don’t want attention drawn to.

Belts: If you have a more defined waist, you can wear a three-inch or one-inch wide belt. Try finding one that is comfortable fabric that is easy to adjust for a more comfortable fit. However, women who carry weight in their middle may find that cinching belts right at the waistline is not flattering. Try put the belt around the hips for a more boho look.

Shoes: Pointed toe shoes “lean out” the silhouette more than rounded toe shoes. Heels also elongate the body. Even the slightest heel is enough to elongate the legs. If you have wide ankles or fuller calves, avoid T-straps and ankle strap shoes. It will make the legs appear wider. Try more open sling-back shoes that flatter the foot without covering too much.

Bags: Never carry a purse that is too small. For daytime bags, you don’t want to have a bag that gets lost within your frame. Try an oversize hobo or shoulder bag or a large tote. There are many options also like a large structured top-handle purse or a cross-body bag with straps long enough to generously cross your body. For nighttime bags, opt for a generous size envelope-style clutch. A larger bag creates the look of a smaller waist.
